5 simple tips to help you follow the GOLO for Life® Plan on the go!

While an active lifestyle or hectic schedule could pose a few challenges when it comes to eating healthy, balanced meals, there are a lot of things you can do to make sure you stay on track with your weight loss journey even when you’re on the go.

Here are a few things you can do to remain consistent with your healthy lifestyle no matter what's on your schedule.

1. Prep for the day or week ahead

When it comes to healthy eating, preparation is key. Whether you meal plan several days ahead of schedule or take time out of your evening or early morning to prep for the upcoming day, meal planning can help make your day less stressful and healthier.

There are lots of ways you can meal prep without spending a ton of time in the kitchen. Make sure you:

  • Purchase grocery essentials that don’t require prep - items like tuna, berries, and yogurt
  • Create meals based on your GOLO Smart Card™
  • Store what you make in portable containers so it’s ready to go when you are

In an effort to keep things simple, our GOLO Smart Card tells you which foods to include in your GOLO-friendly meals and gives serving recommendations. Creating delicious, healthy meals based on your Smart Card requires basic cooking knowledge, which makes creating delicious, healthy meals easier.

2. Look at menus before you dine and stick to your Smart Card

When you eat out, take your time to look over the menu for healthier options. Many restaurants have their menus online, so you can plan ahead and review what’s available before you arrive.

Here are some easy ways to make healthy food choices at restaurants:

  • Start with a broth-based soup or small salad as an appetizer
  • Choose veggie-based entrees
  • Go with baked, broiled, or grilled vs. fried.
  • Avoid creamy sauces or gravies
  • Order half portions or get a to-go container right away

If you can order meals that closely follow the Smart Card recommendations and consist of proteins, veggies, healthy  carbohydrates, and healthy fats, then you should feel confident you’re making choices that support your healthy lifestyle.

Having a copy of your Smart Card could make it easy to order, so make a copy and bring it with you when you dine out!

3. Have bottles of Release® on hand wherever you go

Taking the Release supplement is essential to following the GOLO for Life® Plan. To make sure you have it available each meal, keep an extra bottle in the office, in your kitchen, or your purse or work bag so it’s always on hand wherever you are.

4. Make social gatherings work for you

You don’t have to fret about going to parties, celebrations, or family get-togethers when living a healthy lifestyle. You can do plenty of things to make sure you enjoy social gatherings while continuing to progress on your journey.

Make sure you eat  your regular meals throughout the day of your event. If you wait to eat, you’ll be more inclined to overeat or overindulge in unhealthy options.

Worried there won’t be anything available for you to eat? Bring your own healthy dish! There are lots of good GOLO-friendly recipes that are sure to impress at a party. Plus you can be sure there’s something to eat that you’ll enjoy.

5. Keep Bonus Servings in mind

For your busiest or most active days, you can add a Bonus Serving to your meal plan to make sure you don’t get too hungry between meals.

Add your Bonus Serving to any of your daily meals throughout the day or as a snack. GOLO doesn’t typically recommend snacking or grazing, but you can use your Bonus Serving as a snack if you are going more than 5-6 hours between meals.

Following GOLO is easy no matter where you go!

No matter how busy life gets, the simplicity and flexibility of the GOLO for Life Plan make it easy for you to continue on your path to wellness no matter where you are. Just keep your Smart Card on hand and an extra bottle of Release at the ready and you can continue to make progress.
